Defining the problems of the modern lifestyle The negative side-effects of living a hectic modern lifestyle are well-known, but we have to worry about much more than just poor posture and work-related stress. A lot of what we do during the day and how we handle ourselves actually ends up blocking our energy pathways, making us unhappy, sluggish and disease-prone. If we are to make a positive change, we need to understand the different aspects of the modern lifestyle that contribute to poor energy circulation and keep us in weakened state, drained of vital and creative energy. So many of us have problems with balancing our energy because we: 1. Sit in uncomfortable positions all day long An average person spends the good part of the day hunched in front of the computer, sitting in a chair, sitting in a car, lying on the couch and so on. If we just took the time to work on keeping our body properly aligned, stretching and being on our feet more, a lot of our persistent minor health issues would disappear. 2. Are under constant stress and don’t know how to truly relax Even when we are done with work and sit down to watch TV or lie down to get some sleep, our minds are racing and negative thoughts eat away our brain. The stress makes us feel scared, insecure and weak. A few minutes spent on winding down and a few more on meditation each day would help significantly lower stress and anxiety. 3. Try to fit societal molds instead of accepting who we are A good part of the nagging doubts and anxiety is caused by the fact that we always try to please others and get their approval, seeing some of our core character traits as something bad that needs to be suppressed. Accepting who you are and learning to express yourself freely is very important for allowing the energy to flow through your body unobstructed. 4. Live and work in a chaotic mess The environment we live and work in can have a huge effect on how we feel. Untidy and dirty rooms will drain you and prevent the optimal energy flow. Taking the time to clean up and applying some Feng shui principles to your interior design is a quick way to bring some balance back into your life and make you feel much better. Only by making some basic lifestyle changes can we ensure a more optimal energy flow, which is conducive to good health, creativity, happiness and focus. Making a change in any, or better yet all of this areas doesn’t take too much effort, so there is no excuse not to start improving your life right now.
