SAVING YOUR SUPPLEMENTS (FROM THE TRASH)

1/12/2014

Picture
Discovered an expired supplement at the back of the closet during your springcleaning routine? It had cost a good USD$30-50 to buy and now it's two months past its expiration date. Can we spare or save them from the bin?

Here are maximum extension dates before you should toss your common supplements past their expiration dates as advised by most manufacturers.

  • Herbal products 2 years.
  • Vitamin/ Mineral Supplements 2 years except B vitamins- toss immediately.
  • Enzymes 1 year
  • Fish oils: 3 months
  • Probiotics: 3 months
  • Skin care products: 6 to 9 months
  • Cosmetics 1 year
  • Liquid Supplements: 1 year
  • Drugs: 2 years except Nitroglycerin and Asthma medications, toss

If you have saved some of your supplements from a doomed fate having made sure that they still smell and look intact.
Know now that you don't have much time left to leave them lying around. Either eat them now or know that if you really didn't like them or know you will not consume them, bite the bullet, chalk it up to experience, and let go of the clutter.
